The IT industry and e-CODEX

The IT industry is an important reference group to consult for e-CODEX in this Large Scale Project.

The IT-industry is invited to support e-CODEX. This support can range from business advice to helping to improve processes or providing technical support in delivering technology.

Added value

Until the end of 2013 eighteen (18) organizations from fifteen (15) countries will work together to develop e-services to support cross border legal procedures. e-CODEX involves many legal professions (e.g. bailiffs, notaries, judges, lawyers etc.) and will also help to enable the citizens in the usage of cross-border legal procedures. As such, a broad array of software products will be affected by the standards, products and services that will be developed during this pilot project.

Involvement of the IT industry

The IT industry is an important reference group for e-CODEX to consult. The knowledge and experience of industry partners are a valuable asset in creating sustainability for the e-CODEX deliverables. For this reason we call on the industry stakeholders to express their views on the technical issues raised by offering alternatives, innovative products or methods or any other help. Industry partners will be eligible to co-develop technical solutions.

Pilots

The proposed pilots for the European order for payment procedure (EPO), Small Claims, the European Arrest Warrant and the  secure exchange of criminal data and financial penalties. These pilots are not simulations but will deliver true operational electronic services supporting cross border legal procedures.

These pilots will be implemented by following the approaches developed under similar Large Scale Projects (SPOCS, STORK, PEPPOL, epSOS).

The pilots involve a broad range of standards and technologies including information security, secure electronic identities, e-delivery and semantics. The IT industry is invited to bring in innovations and their experience making electronic cross border legal procedures a reliable and sustainable reality.
